Want whiter teeth without an appointment? Columbia Dental Center recommends these steps if you want to try teeth bleaching without visiting the dentist:
1. Cut Back On Staining Foods
The first step in brightening your smile is to cut way back on the foods that contribute to dark-stained teeth. You probably realize this means limiting how much tea and coffee you drink throughout the day.
But stain also comes from surprising places like curry dishes, red sauces, blackberries, and sports drinks.
2. Put A Little More Grit In Your Toothpaste
Used alone or in addition to toothpaste, baking soda can buff away surface stain due to how abrasive it is. Be careful to not scrub too hard with it as it can hurt your gums.
Baking soda doesn't have the ability to actually bleach away stain, but it can help keep new stain from forming. Just be sure not too use it too often, or you’ll cause more harm than good!
3. DIY Whitening Kits
As a last-resort, you can attempt some at-home whitening kits available in your local drugstore. For some patients, this is a sufficient introduction to the world of whitening.
Be warned, however, that you may still not get great results because the whitening power is a low concentration. Also, it's easy to misuse a product and wind up with irritated gums.
